'Hide your face...'

"Hide your face so the world will never find you."

One of my favorite things in the whole wide world... The Phantom of the Opera. I have a very personal connection with both the story and the musical portrayal of it by andrew lloyd webber and the lyricist charles hart.
This particular drawing... Im very glad I did it.

For those of you who dont know, in the play and the movie the phantoms face was only half disfigured, and very mildly at that.
In the original story his ENTIRE body was horrifically corpse-like. He had no nose, tight yellowy skin, basically no facial features of any kind. THIS is what makes his plight, his genius, and his story so beautiful.
In the movie, the makeup artist for gerrard butler said she wanted the phantom "to still look human" ...she totally missed the point.
So, now you know.
